3 Travel Vlog Ideas To Make You a Better Travel Vlogger in 2026
After two years of travel vlogging in Taiwan, I have learned that growth does not come from posting more, it comes from improving your storytelling, branding, and workflow. In this blog, I will share what worked for me in 2025, including how I balanced a full-time job with content creation and what helped me improve my travel vlogs without burning out.
This is my last blog for 2025, and I have to confess, I am exhausted. Besides working in Taiwan and learning Mandarin, I have managed running my travel vlog. However, in this post, I do not want to look forward. Rather will look back at 2025 and share what I have learned as a travel vlogger in Taiwan.

Looking at it now, it is actually quite a lot, at least in terms of quantity. Starting from July, I was able to increase my output significantly. Every month, I managed to:
- Publish two new travel videos
- Announce and share all videos across social media (including a new Instagram account)
- Release about eight Shorts/Reels, coordinated across all channels
- Write two blog posts per month, all around Kinmen, travel vlogging, or traveling in Taiwan
Travel Vlog Quality Beats Quantity: What Really Changed in 2025?
Doing all this took a lot of time. What helped me most were experience, automation, and AI. In fact, I even wrote a full blog about Using AI in Video Editing as a Travel Vlogger. Still, I believe the real progress this year came from focusing on quality, not just quantity. Thus, why I want to talk about branding – from travel vlog thumbnails and music to why I did not create a Japan travel vlog in 2025, even though I visited Japan again.
Note: I have no ambition to quit my job or turn this into a profit-driven project. I actually wrote a dedicated blog post about “How to Become a Travel Vlogger and Get Paid?” Still, I am confident the tips in this article can help any travel vlogger looking to improve their content.
Improved Branding As a First Idea: Why Travel Vlog Video Thumbnails Matter
It was a slow and sometimes frustrating process, but I aimed to align all my content assets in 2025. This is most visibly in the YouTube thumbnails of my travel vlogs. I also tried to stay consistent across my website and other platforms.
One thing I learned the hard way: you can easily change your video thumbnails afterwards, but you cannot change the video content itself. If you are thinking about becoming a travel vlogger, my advice is to create a simple style guide early on to maintain consistency. And do not repeat my mistake: always choose colors with good contrast so your text and visuals stand out clearly.

My video “Why Is Kinmen Part of Taiwan?” is a good example of how much I have added (IMHO) to branding as a travel vlogger. All text boxes, images, and effects in the video now follow a consistent visual style. Even the light effects are aligned.
Idea Number Two: Use Matching Travel Vlog Music to Create the Right Setting
I also put more effort into creating more depth and atmosphere in my videos. When I watch my older travel vlogs, I realize how much my sound quality has improved. For example, in my 2024 Jiufen Taiwan Travel Vlog, I had some audio problems.
The next step was adding the right background sounds and sound effects to build the right mood for each video. Sound effects alone can easily feel cheap, but when combined with the right music, they really bring your scenes to life. I mostly use royalty-free travel vlog music from Pixabay.
For instance, in my videos about the Jincheng Defense Tunnel and the Jiugong Tunnel on Kinmen Island, the mix of ambient sounds, background music, and consistent visual branding helps keep viewers engaged from start to finish.
I have not updated my tech stack as a travel vlogger, but I really should. I produce everything on a budget, though one day I would like to invest in a proper microphone and a better camera for my travel vlog.
Take Breaks from Vlogging: Why I Did Not Do a Japan Travel Vlog in 2025
I love living in Taiwan, and by now I have got so used to Taiwanese way of life. Thus, I often feel the urge to visit Japan. But seriously, in In 2023, I created a full Japan travel vlog series, the first real trave vlog outside of Taiwan.
I returned to Japan in October 2025, but I was still busy editing my Vietnam videos and managing other projects. That is why I decided not to produce any Japan travel videos this year, there was simply too much going on.
My advice: focus on one project at a time and plan your production with the right structure. In 2026, I plan to keep creating content, but I probably will not maintain the same momentum I had over the past six months. We will see, especially since I am preparing for a longer trip through Europe in a few months.
2025 is Ending, But the Traveling Continues
Thank you so much for reading my blog about my travel vlog ideas! These are the three most important things I have learned as a travel vlogger: consistent branding and good video thumbnails really matter; pay attention to the music in your travel vlogs, but also remember to take it easy and have fun.
